Sadly at least one person was killed in a fire on Bowman Street today. Firefighters got to the blaze within minutes of the calls coming in. They found heavy fire coming out of the second floor. It was knocked down quickly but unfortunately it was a fatal fire. The traffic in the area was slow-moving for a while after and the streets around the scene were covered with water which was quickly turning into very slippery ice.
Here are a few photos from the scene that I took (I grabbed my camera and press pass and took off when I hear the scanner go off)
There were a lot of medical calls today for chest pain and shortness of breath, a few seizures, and an allergic reaction.
The police responded to a domestic in progress at 376 Dubuque Street where a man and woman were screaming at each other and the man was hitting the woman.
There was another fire in Hooksett that went to a 2nd alarm and had companies from multiple cities including Manchester responding. It was a working fire when they got there but it was knocked down quickly. Everyone made it out of the building safely.
The Fire Marshall and members of the NH Ball Bearings crew held a press conference today to discuss the explosion that happened around 3:45pm yesterday. They are looking at a room that houses acid and other chemicals that are used in some of the processes as the main source of the explosion. All work has been suspended until further notice. They have a structural inspection tomorrow to see if the building is structurally sound which they do believe that it is at this time. There is still no word on what exactly caused the explosion that injured 15 people (2 critical).
Watch out on Thursday as it looks like winter storm Pax will be headed our way. As of right now they are forecasting that we are going to get 6-12 inches of wet and heavy snow however Manchester is right on the line between 6-12 inches and 3-6 inches. I am hoping that we are on the 3-6 side!! I will keep you all updated as the forecast shifts and when the storm hits will keep you updated with traffic alerts and school closings.
Thanks to everyone who has joined today. I hope that you have enjoyed what you have been reading so far and that you are finding the information somewhat useful.
