***9 Busted in Oxycode Investigation***

The streets are a tiny bit cleaner after this weekend. The Manchester Police Department along with state police and federal agents arrested 9 Manchester residents on Friday after an investigation that began almost one year ago.

MPD and the other agencies seized $90,000 worth of drugs during the bust. They also found weapons, vehicles involved, and tens of thousands in cash. Included in the lot of drugs were 3,000 oxycodone pills that were 30mg each. Police say that these drugs came up from New York and Lawrence, Mass and their final destination was to be Manchester. Federal and local police filed for 13 different search warrants.

During the execution of federal warrants a woman on Beech Street ended up being shot by a federal officer. She suffered non-life threatening injuries and was not charge with any crimes. She did however have two older children who were taken into custody for being a part of this drug ring.

The nine that were arrested will be facing federal charges as opposed to local charges. This means that they have stiffer penalties. The police feel that this has made a very large dent in the prescription drug market in Manchester.

Now if they can focus on Spice and find a way to make it illegal....
