***Man Found With $2,000 in Oxycodone During Stop***

MPD has again taken another dealer off of the streets for now.

Street crime detectives had been watching the area of 452-456 Pine Street due to increased concern about drug deals going on. They noticed someone sitting in a parked truck around 10pm. They then noticed a female get into the truck and then get back out a minute later. The police said this is consistent with drug sale behavior.

Detective Aaron Brown called for a patrol car. The truck drove off shortly after the woman left. They ended up being pulled over on Market Street because they had a brake light out and for suspected drug activity. When police did a search of the car they found that 28 year old Scott Lasser had over $2,000 (67 pills) in Oxycodone on him.

Lasser was arrested and charged with possession of a narcotic drug with intent to sell. He did not have a prescription for the pills. Police estimate that each pill was worth around $30 on the street because they typically go for $1 per mg. Bail was set at $10,000 cash/surety. Lasser was arraigned in court Tuesday morning. He will be returning to court on March 24th for a probably cause hearing.

(Information obtained from the Union Leader)

Prescription pill addiction is just as prevalent as any other drug that is abused. Oxycodone is a strong painkiller that is prescribed to someone with a severe injury or pain management. It has the potential to become very addictive. Since the medicine is so strong dealers can get a lot of money per pill depending on the strength.

If you have teens in the house make sure that you keep your medicine somewhere safe and keep tabs on it. On any given day, 2,000 teens are taking prescription medications without a prescription from the doctor. 14.8% of high school seniors said they have done this.** Along with pain medications, Adderall is one of the most abused prescription drugs by teens and college students as they believe that it will help them to focus on their schoolwork.

    1. Uhh...even if you can't do a 9 to 5 job that doesn't mean selling drugs is the answer. There are millions of people that can't have a normal job but they get buy without dealing.

  7. I actually know this Scott. He's not a bad person by any means. He was actually one of the nicest people ever to me in high school when I would be picked on by others. He must have just gotten mixed up at some point. People make mistakes...hopefully he will learn from it like so many before him. I'm not saying that dealing drugs is good...it's terrible. But that doesn't make him a bad person.

  8. HI My brother is not a bad person. What he may have done obviously wasnt a good choice but people make mistakes and people are so quick to judge. Whoever wrote the 1st comment clearly is upset with him for some reason because hes always been friends with everyone and has always helped anyone out(and im not talking about drugs) This isnt the end of the world guys. a good kid make some bad choices which we all im sure have made some poor choices in our time wether it be drug related or not so try not to be so judgemental,

    1. Scott is a great person. He will turn this around. I worked with him a couple of years ago, he will do anything for anyone. The comment "poor excuse...." isn't scott at all. Please tell him there are people here who believe in him and wish him the best. Those of you who are quick to judge I hope life doesnt through you any curve balls.

  9. Ya he's a good guy deep down inside. I'm not even close to him or his family and I can assert that. Not to say that what he did was intelligent, but the drug war is ridiculous and those who watch it as reality tv are even worse.
