***Daily Breakdown 03/17/2014***

Good morning everyone! How many of you are already drunk?

WEATHER: Today is going to be a chilly and dreary day with a high of 30. Don't fret, the warmer weather is coming!

TRAFFIC: All roadways are moving beautifully this morning. There is one spot on 114 North coming from Bedford, the intersection where 114 meets 101 to go to Amherst is really backed up. It doesn't look like there has been an accident reported, may just be normal heavy Monday morning traffic.

HEADLINES: Alderman Garth Coriveau feels that with the cost of healthcare rising in the city, a health and wellness position must be created. The proposed pay is $48,000 a year and he is going to push for the position to be created even though it was denied years ago.

12 people including 4 children were left homeless over the weekend due to an accidental fire on Front Street. The fire department arrived just four minutes after a 911 call was placed and found a 58 year old man who was unconscious on the first floor. Four firefighters administered CPR to the man and when he began to breathe on his own again he was transported to the CMC where he was medflighted out to Brigham and Women's in Boston with serious injuries due to smoke inhalation. The house is deemed uninhabitable as the fire spread from the first floor where and unattended pan of cooking oil caught on fire and then went up through the 2nd story walls and up to the ceiling of the third floor. The fire department was able to knock down the fire quickly. There is one missing cat and one missing dog but all of the other residents made it out safely. They are being assisted by the Red Cross. The building damage is estimated at $140,000. The man that was taken to Brigham is expected to be okay thanks to the courageous acts of firefighters Lt. Michael Smith and firefighters Charles Morin, Robert Stemska, and Gary Ducharme.

A deal fell through this weekend for the old police station on Chestnut Street. The Grossman Companies, LLC, a Massachusetts developer had signed papers to buy the station for $1.3 million but then backed out after looking at the amount that it would cost to transform the building into something else.

SPORTS: The Red Sox fell 4-1 to the Phillies on Saturday and lost 8-4 against Tampa on Sunday. Today they face the Cardinals at 1:05pm. The Bruins blew the Hurricanes away 5-1 on Saturday. Today they face The Wild at 7:30pm.

CLOSURES: No road closures are scheduled for today however please be careful of pedestrians in the road, especially around Elm Street as people will be drinking all day today.
