***Food Bank Needs Help***

With the holidays coming donations are needed more than any other time of year for the NH Food Bank. The shelves are becoming empty but there are still many mouths to feed. A new study from Feeding America shows that one out of every nine NH citizens is struggling for meals each day.

This September is Hunger Action Month as declared by Governor Hassan. She states that the number of people who go hungry is astounding and even more shocking when you learn that 24% of the people that are going hungry are veterans that fought for our freedom.

More than 100,000 people in the state of NH receive meals from the Food Bank. There are more than 80% of students in Manchester schools alone that are on the free or reduced lunch program. Mayor Gatsas states that sometimes the lunch at school is the children's only hot meal during the day.

This month we urge you to make a food donation if you can. Stores around the community such as Market Basket and Hannaford have bins outside of their entry ways where you can donate non-perishable food items. As we move closer towards the winter months food drives are held at companies all through the state.

As a group, imagine how much of an impact we could have if everyone on this page donated just two items of food? We have at the moment 16,069 people following ManchVegas Alerts. If every one of use donated 2 non-perishable items that would equal 32,128 food items. How incredible would that be???

I will be in contact with someone at the Food Bank to see if I can set up a day where everyone can come and drop off donations. More to come!
