***Breaking Twist in West High Bomb Threat 5/14/14***

This just broke on NECN.com:

Ralph Blackey was planning an armed robbery and called in a fake bomb threat to West High School at 10:30am to take attention away from the robbery. The students were let back into the building around 11:30am after the police deemed it safe for them.

Then at 12:15 an armed robbery occurred on Kelley Street at Bob's Coin Store. Unfortunately for the robber, an off-duty police officer entered the store right behind him. The officer noticed that the man had a mask on that looked like either a construction mask or a surgical mask. Officer Mike Buckley said that the man stated that he was wearing the mask because of allergies. Officer Buckley was still suspicious of the man and so he made a quick transaction at the counter and then went outside to grab his weapon just in case. He told a construction crew that was outside of the store about what he was doing.

Just after the spoke with the crew the man came running out of the store. The female clerk was chasing after him and yelling about a robbery. Officer Buckley arrested the man at gunpoint. The man had entered the store, shown the clerk a knife, and demanded that she hand over cash. The clerk did not give him anything and yelled "Police!" which scared him away. He left the store without getting anything.

After a short investigation, Blackey's address was found to be the same as the address that came up during the investigation of the bomb threat call made to West. He has been charged with false public alarm and robbery.

Gee...what a shame. Kudos to Officer Buckley for staying alert and being prepared for the situation!

  2. How about kudos to the police men/women that were able to respond so quickly to the situation at West? Regardless if it was a fake threat, it just goes to show how safely a situation can be handled. Do not blame this on anybody but the man that caused it.

  3. This guy is not to be trusted at all around money, jewelry, credit cards and do not tell him about any life insurance you or someone you know may have. He is a shady guy. Him and his drunken GF should not have that child.

  4. haha glad he was caught! Now the school/district just need to work on their notification procedures! The fact that you have never needed them in the past is NOT an excuse to not have them in place now.
