***ManchVegas Winners of the Week - DUI, Biting, and Paint Ballin'***

Ashley Cowette of Manchester is in quite a bit of trouble. She was spotted by a state trooper driving erratically on 293. She was pulled over on South Beech Street and it was found that she was intoxicated. They classified it as a DUI-D which is intoxication by prescription medication or drugs as opposed to alcohol. In the car were her 5 month old and 4 year old children. She is scheduled to appear in court on May 12th for charges of aggravated DUI-D. She was released on bail

A 17 year old Manchester Central High senior was arrested and given $1,000 bail after he was found to have a .9 mm handgun that was not licensed in his glove compartment. He is also being charged with possession of a controlled drug and was charged with a curfew violation. They were pulled over because they were pointing paintball guns out of the window and had fired a shot on Grove Street.

Another winner of the week is Kristie Chapman who became agitated during and August court proceeding where she threw her chair at the judge. Fortunately the judge was not hit. She has appeared again in court this week for biting a loss prevention officer at The Basket on Elm Street when they tried to stop her from leaving the store as they had seen that she had taken some items. She was handcuffed as a precaution this time. This is most likely not her last brush with the law as she already has a 24 page criminal record. It is being requested that she is held on $7,500 surety as they believe that she is a definite danger to the public. The bail was set at $2,500. She is being charged with a felony theft for this incident as she has already been convicted twice of theft. She will have a trial in June for the assault charge.
