***Daily Breakdown 04/04/2014***

IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!!

WEATHER: It is going to be a little cooler today with a high of 48 and it will be partly cloudy.

TRAFFIC: Traffic is nice and clear on all major roadways for your morning commute.

HEADLINES: The city has proposed a Pay-as-you-throw initiative where you would have to pay for the garbage that you throw out. Recycling would be free. They are hoping that if they adopt this new plan there will be a rise in recycling as people wouldn't want to have to pay for it. They said that it could generate huge revenue for the city as well. There were only a few residents that showed up to support the plan.

A bill is waiting to be passed to repeal the death penalty. Should this happen, Michael Addison who killed Officer Briggs in 2006, would have his death sentence taken away and would have life in prison instead. The bill still has to go through the Senate before it is passed.

A Manchester woman was pulled over on 101 near exit 2 for a traffic stop. While on the stop police found a bunch of stolen items that had been taking from the Home Depot and the Walmart in Epping. The officer that stopped her noticed that the anti-theft devices were still on the three flat screen televisions that were in the back of the Jeep. (We can see how well those devices worked) The driver and her passenger could not provide a receipt for the merchandise. They were not arrested at the scene due to lack of evidence that they had actually stolen anything at the time, but the merchandise was seized. The total value was around $1500. Surveillance cameras caught the thefts and warrants were issued for their arrest. The two women were arrest around 1am that same day. They were each charged with a Class A felony for the value of the merchandise that was stolen. They were also charged with possession of a controlled drug.

SPORTS: The Boston Red Sox beat the Orioles 4-3 last night. Tonight is Fenway Park's Opening Day!! The World Series rings will be presented and then the Sox will go on to face the Milwaukee Brewers. Wear your Red Sox gear today!! The Boston Bruins fell the the Maple Leafs last night in OT 4-3.

CLOSURES: There are no scheduled closures for roadwork but watch out at the intersection of Elm/Auburn/Lake/Central as the Monarchs will be playing at 7pm tonight. That intersection will be closed down for around half an hour after the game which is usually around 9:30.

  1. Governor Hassan says even though she votes to repeal the death penalty, she will "grandfather" Addison in - so he will still be sentenced to death even if the bill passes.

  2. Good! He shouldn't be let off of his sentence if they end up repealing it. I think they should keep the death penalty personally but that is just me!
