***Judge Says NO to Teen Suing Her Parents***

Sorry Rachel, but you have been DENIED.

A New Jersey judge has denied Rachel Canning's request for $650 per week in child support (I am sorry, but really??? That is more than many people make actually working full time) and also her request for them to pay her tuition at Morris Catholic High School.

The judge did however ask them all to come back to court on April 22nd. He wants to address the fact that the teen states that she had to leave home two days before she turned 18 because her parents were being abusive. Her parents say that she just did not feel like following the rules that they laid out for her and decided to leave on her own. The judge will try to determine if Rachel's claims are true or just the whinings of a spoiled teen who does not want to follow the house rules and if the parents should have to support her because of this. He did not however seem to be buying Canning's claims of abuse, but there is no telling how the next hearing will go.

This case has gotten national attention. One of the biggest reasons is because this is what some parents are afraid will happen when their children grow into teenagers. If they don't like the rules of the house, can they just walk out and sue their parents for money claiming that they were abused? It doesn't seem fair to the parents at all and hopefully the outcome of this case will show other teens that no, you cannot sue your mommy and daddy because you don't want to be home by 11 or pick up your dirty laundry.

The defense claims that the parents were abusive and that they are painting a horrible picture of their daughter and placing all of the blame on her so they don't have to deal with the responsibilities of parenthood. I am sorry but if that were the case, wouldn't they have done something like this...oh...I don't know...YEARS ago, before she was old enough to be an adult on her own? (just my humble opinion).
