5:11am - FIRE: Engine 7 11 10 9 RIC Truck 7 & 1 Rescue 1 Car 1 ALS 3 delta response. Hayward and Wilson for a building fire. Tac 5
5:12am - 2nd alarm struck immediately as units arrived on the scene. 100x50 12 unit building 50% involved.
5:14am - FIRE: Engine 2 & 3 Truck 6 delta response. Hayward and Wilson for the second alarm strike. Tac 5
5:16am - Engine 5 & 8 and the air unit delta response. Third alarm building fire on Wilson Street.
5:16am - First victim found unresponsive in apartment on second floor during primary searches.
5:19am - FIRE: ALS 2 respond to Wilson St for the fire.
5:21am - Chief calls for all interior crews to do a primary search and then get out of the building.
5:21am - FF calling for assistance with a victim at the back of one of the ALS units.
5:23am - All companies instructed to evacuate the building immediately. 2nd victim found
5:24am - Repeated calls for all crews inside to evacuate the building immediately. Defensive operations begin.
5:25am - FIRE: ALS 4 bravo hot response. Wilson St for the third alarm fire, 4th ALS to be called in. Tac 5
5:27am - Defensive operations only at this time, 2 victims removed from the building up to this point.
5:32am - 3rd and 4th victims are pulled out of the building. Trauma teams activated at CMC
5:34am - Mutual aid arrives from other towns for station coverage.
5:39am - All clear in the building, not all areas were able to be searched at this time.
5:41am - Emergency distress signal from Engine 9B
5:42am - Third alarm struck, mutual aid calls place to Bedford and Londonderry
5:54am - Request for additional pumps, striking fourth alarm, more mutual aid called in
5:54am - AMR requested for firefighter down
5:58am - Mutual aid ambulances arriving in the city for coverage
6:05am - 2/3 of the roof has collapsed, still heavy fire showing. Establishing 50 ft collapse zone around the building for safety.
6:18am - Fourth alarm struck, more mutual aid companies en route to the fire
6:24am - Requesting Red Cross disaster relief
6:24am - Eversource confirms that power has been cut to the primary wires outside of the building
6:27am - Roof has totally collapsed, FF advising that most of the fire is out at this time, second FF states that all fire is out (there is actually still heavy fire that they were not able to see until they got inside). Command requests that all companies shut their water off
6:34am - FF advises that 1/3 of the roof is still intact and there is still fire underneath
6:35am - Secondary search being conducted, 2nd floor all clear, heading to the 3rd floor
6:40am - Secondary search completed, all clear all three floors, beginning to battle the remaining heavy fire that is still in the portion of the roof that has not collapsed
6:43am - Companies clearing the building so they can fight the remaining fire, also protecting other buildings from exposure
6:52am - All visible fire has been knocked down at this time
6:55am - Windows are being pulled out to get rid of some of the water in the building.
7:11am - Calling under control. Holding all companies for extensive overhaul
Thank you to all of the firefighters, police officers, and EMTs/Paramedics that responded to this incident. This was not an easy day for any one of you by any means. Thoughts to the injured firefighters, we hope you have a speedy recovery. Thank you to all of the surrounding towns that came in for mutual aid to cover our stations and assist with the fire fighting efforts.
Condolences go out to the family and friends of those who were lost in the fire. RIP to the four victims, Joshua Harrison, Ailene Moody, Joshua Jr. (10) and Jay Michael (8).
Donations are being collected by Central Little League at 380 Lincoln St as well as ROCA Kidz Club on 222 Cedar Street.
